The Belmont Land Trust serves as the umbrella 501(C)(3) tax exempt organization for the Waverley Trail Advisory Committee. The Waverley trail, dedicated in 2007, takes a visitor though an area which has played a significant role in this country’s history of land preservation. In a ceremony honoring stewards of Waverley Oaks for the past 120 years, Belmont resident Jim Levitt said “Waverley Oaks inspired Charles Eliot to call for the creation of the first land trust in the world, the Trustees of Reservations.”
